Ages ago I planted three planter bags of potatoes and put them in the greenhouse nice and safe. Came across them today and the foliage is starting to peep through. I know that I have to add more compost, but can they go outside now or wait a bit longer? Colder night time temperatures are forecast for the weekend and I don't want to loose them now.

I would leave them in the GH, unless you need the space.
They would be OK out unless we get a frost, in which case you would need to cover with fleece or bring them back into the green house.

They aren't any bother in the greenhouse so I will leave them be.

Ours are outside but we are further south. Mine broke the soil today so a good earthing up in needed. My little one won't understand why she could see them and then won't.  :blink:

As mine where planted so late I have a planter in the GH and then some in the ground ... I still cover them with fleece at night just incase ... the ones in the GH are doing great about an inch through so will earth up later and the ones in the ground are just poking through ... must earth up tomorrow as the temps are going to be low over the weekend!!!

I only grow earlies .... cant wait til harvest time

First time that I've tried a couple of bags in the greenhouse - worked like a charm - have about a foot of growth on top and have now put them out up against a (fairly) sheltered wall. They went in about 6 weeks ago if memory serves.

Up on the plot I've got something I laughingly refer to as a 'coldframe' - made on 3 sides with pallet wood, a clear corrugated perspex roof and a south facing 'sliding' 'door' made from pallets and cling film - the spuds in there have about 6 inches of growth. The spuds that went in direct were planted at the same time and are only just beginning to poke through. We had a lot of blight trouble last year so I'm only doing first earlies - and anything I can do to bring them on quicker is probably a good thing. So I'll be putting more in the greenhouse next year.
