Hellebores

There is some nice new growth coming through on  my hellebores.
Should I be cutting off the old leaves, or only the dead ones, please?

You should cut off all the old leaves to prevent the disease that blackens the old leaves spreading to the new. It also shows off the flowers better.This should really have been done earlier. I usually do mine as soon as I see the first sign of flowers.

Others may be able to advise on the correct time for this?.

Once spring arrives and I see life in the plant again, I just remove the obviously dead leaves as older leaves seem to come back to life. I'm hesitant to remove older leaves as there's little new leaf growth despite the plants being quite tall. This is nature's way and I go with it.
