So the question I was once asked by a farmer who is one of our patients.... why are you planting main's so early when you are going to store them?
I was like you sowing in March.
I now follow our local farmers. Mains go in first weekend of May, my earlys 2nd weekend of April.
Done this about 4 years now and always get very good crops, others on site are moaning coz they have lost a good few due to more than average raInfall. They will not learn!

Yep
I have pulled all mine up now and cut and freezed them. I just poke the middle bit out unless making soup and it just gets blended.

Spent a good hour trying to get me petrol tiller going today, stripped it down, cleaned etc and it just don't wanna play.

Had similar issue with my owd strimmer.

Gone and bought a 240v tiller, plug in and a way we go, so much easier.
Bought cordless Dewalt strimmer couple of years and not looked back so thought I need something that will do the job without the hassle.

As my plot is directly behind the house I can just plug in to my supply. Job done in 5 mins.

Grow Your Own / Curly leaf garlic

Afternoon all
I hope everyone has some sunshine today
I wonder if anyone can tell me what has happened to my early wight garlic. It appears to have sprouted multiple stems and leaves within the main stem
Not happened before and is only affecting that variety. I have lifted them but they don’t appear to be diseased

Chatting on the Plot / Household stuff you wouldn't buy again.

I've spent the weekend trying to tidy up and clean.Looking at it I'm getting nowhere fast. I can't help but think I've made things difficult for myself with some stupid decisions.

Here's a quick list of things I wish I'd bought/done differently.

All in one washer /drier - utterly useless does neither job well.
Shaker style cabinet doors - grime just collects on them.
Stainless steel backsplash by the cooker / sink - never look clean regardless of what I do to them.
The gas hob - It's impossible to keep clean or even deep clean.
Under counter fridge - I can't see what's in it and stuff lurks in the back until it's green/blue and smelly.
Shower curtains. Are these supposed to be disposable ?
Cheap dark towels that shed fluff.
Shell sculpted porcelain. I knew I should have replaced it when I moved in. Impossible to clean.

Warm and sunny, with enough of a breeze to stop it being unpleasant.  I risked washing the cushions from the sofa - hopefully they'll line dry in time.

Leftover beef stew even though it's not exactly the right weather for it.
