Hi all

V embarassing this - have just bought a replacement blade for an old Sandvik (now Bahco) 21" bow saw and realised the far end is fixed with a rivet...from pics on Amazon etc this looks to be standard rather than a modification - so how do you get the old blade off? Do you need a rivetter to put the new one on?

I used to change these quite often in my old BTCV days but I can't remember a propbem then, perhaps there was a threaded bolt then?

Does it not have a quick release at the handle end?

yes, it has the fold-down handle to release one end of the blade, it's the other end I can't figure out!

Serves me right for being to mean/green to turn shed light on, so I didn't see the rivet is small enough to pop out!

At least it is sorted now.  :blink: You had me baffled there as we have both Dads' old Sandvik saws here and at work we sell the Bahco saws and replacement blades...

went for a cheap (£2.60) replacement rather then the real Bahco, but just cut through a log in about 5 secs where the old blade had just got stuck in the middle...lost its 'rake' perhaps?

big fan of sandvik/bahco though...love the 344 barracuda

The old boys round here used to sing the praises of Swedish blades for some reason!

Mine is still going strong after about 37 years, and I use it a lot!

I would challenge any bow saw with my silky Gomtaro 300 hahahaha, i use this when doing climbing jobs it works on the pull rather than the push. Super fantastic bit of kit but far from cheap.

Silky are very best pruning saws anyone can buy
