Title: Watering growbags
Post by: jarigo on February 14, 2013, 14:03
I grow my tomatoes in growbags and wonder if these watering system kits with the 10 litre bags that you hang up in the greenhouse any good .

They are OK'ish. Fiddly to get a balanced flow and I went back to the watering can.  Probably most use if you are away and leaving watering to a neighbour/family member-just fill up the bag!

Many thanks moose. As they are not very expensive I will maybe give them a try.

ive used a piece of water pipe, drilled with small holes and threaded through the back of the growbag, a 90o corner piece then a upright lenght of pipe..funnel in the top  and water into that.

adds water direct into the bag,

Hi Wiltshire Worms I use grow pots for most of the time. The watering system I am talking about is for watering plants if I am away for long weekend etc. Many thanks for your input.

I bought a couple of "portable outdoor showers" for £3.99 each from Lidl last year and used these.  I connected a drip hose to the tap and filled them up every time I visited the greenhouse.

The downside is that the water does heat up a bit, but my tomatoes didn't seem to mind too much!
