Odd behaviour or normal?
« on: April 05, 2012, 15:03 »
Hi, total newbie here.
I've had two beautiful pol hens a week. Both eating, drinking and pooing well. The problem is they won't come out of the coop without one of us within sight. OH opens up coop door at first light. I come home at 10am to find them still snuggled upstairs in the top roost area. I call them and they come out and eat their food in the run as if starving. As soon as I go out of sight again they head straight back in again. Is this normal or are they lacking confidence? Is there anything I can do to encourage them to be a bit more brave?

If there new, then give them time, or turf them out and close the door on them, but they will fine there way in time..... there scared of everything "chicken" is another word for not being brave... they even duck when aircraft shadows go over them..
