drought
« on: April 27, 2011, 15:35 »
I don't know if it's just my part of the country, but we have had no significant rain since the end of February  :(  There was rain forecast for last night but it didn't materialise. Now the heavy rain showers forecast for the weekend have been downgraded to a little bit of light rain on Friday (and I'll believe that when I see it), then back to warm dry and sunny.
I know most people won't want a rainy bank holiday weekend, but my garden and allotment REALLY REALLY need rain - and lots of it

Similar down here but the met office seems to think that it will start raining again at some point.

Let's hope it's not too long. At least the heat's abated somewhat.

When it finally does rain, it will rain lots and we'll get really sick of it unfortunately.

No rain, but no hosepipe ban, and an unmetered water supply (for the time being) thank goodness.

Same here - but we are usually the first for the hosepipe ban - last year they began shutting some of the canal stretches off because of the rain shortage but that was in the summer - I am sure it has never been this dry this early on in the year

No rain here in the sunny midlands either. They are having it all in Australia. They were complaining that they have had none for 10 years, and now it has started it won't stop.

The other day I was planting the last of my seed spuds on the plot and the soil was bone dry and dusty the entire spade depth of the trench   Yet the day before we'd had a thunderstorm and at least 10 minutes of heavy rain ... where did the water go?  ???
