Egg size as they lay more

Sorry if this has been covered before, I have tried going back through the posts, my internet is so slow here and the pc shuts down!
back to the question....
The 5 hens that are laying (2 have been laying for about 11 months now) are giving me an egg a day still, but 2 of the eggs are small, and by small I mean small! I´ve just weighed the eggs, the small ones are 45g and the normal sized are 75g. Are the 2 slightly older hens getting ready to stop laying do you think? The problem will be knowing which 2 hens are the older of the 5 laying- they all look alike

I need a cctv camera in the hen house to see which hen is laying what egg:D

Oliveview...what a wonderful excuse to sit by the henhouse all morning to wait and watch...all in the name of eggzersizing

of course!!

My young hens still lay long oval eggs, very small but just as tasty and the yolks are all around normal size. I think they just need time to let their little vents grow bigger! :roll:

Older hens tend to lay fewer but larger eggs.

Thinking about it, the yolks still look about the same size as the larger eggs. I´m 99.9% sure the new hens are not laying yet, sure they have another couple of months to go or thereabouts. If they are laying they nip in very quick as I have never seen them sitting in the nesting boxes.
