New Polish Chucks!
« on: August 22, 2011, 21:30 »
I have recently purchased three polish chickens, two hens and a cockerel. They seem a bit wild so I have kept them in since I bought them on Saturday. How long would anyone suggest keeping them in for as I have another cockerel who is very much the boss. I am not sure how he will react, do you just let them get on with it until they establish the hierarchy? If they are fine outside together would you seperate them at night, or put them in the hen house together???

cockerels can do a lot of damage to each other so there will literally be feathers flying. They will not stop fighting until one backs down. The only times I haven't had a problem was with cockerels hatched here who have grown up knowing who the top cockerel was.
Staffies are softer than you think.
