Evening all. I want to grow some spring cabbage this year. Does anyone have any recommendations on which type to grow?

It says late summer on my packet, I thought that would mean August, does it mean mid July onward?

I was planning on waiting until it rained first before sowing anything.

My Spring Hero say sow mid-July to early-August.  I haven't sowed mine yet.

Durham Early for me - just popping their heads up now.  They`ll be in the gap where my early peas were.

I tried Spring Hero last year (and harvested them this year) and will sow them again this year. Although the packet probably says July to September there's advice all over the Internet from reputable sources that says only sow in August (example here; read the description and here).

I did mine on the 5th of August last year and it was a bumber crop. Recommended.

Thanks for that - I think it was early August, so will aim for that again.

Later would be a bit better really, as I need to make space to put them & set up a debris netting tent before they go in! Always busy on the plot, eh?

They were very nice, incidentally, just a bit ravaged by cabbage whites last year.  I will be growing them with Wong Bok oriental cabbages this time around.

I planted mine at the end of june lol but they maybe ready sooner than spring as they have gone beserk they went in the ground on the 8th july and well i'll let you see what happened

You could be right there  Shouldn't worry too much. Looks like a decent crop of autum greens there BQ and plenty of time to sow more

I intends to sows some this morning. In modules, to go in the onions beds when I gets them up next weeks. Then a couple weeks for some fertilisers to settles in.
