Wet, breezy, whatever else happens it's a good day for clean energy generation - electricity from wind power nearly as much as coal, nuclear and gas generation combined at the moment:
Don't they shut down automatically during gale-force winds?

I believe they do, but only when the wind speed reaches 55mph - pretty high.
They are also shut down when their power output and the nuclear output (which can't be switched off) exceed the demand - usually at night, and the reason why a lot of effort is going into the development of huge storage batteries.  :)

Why is France in the top left corner?

Well spotted: it's a link to another page showing the French National Grid status.

Well that wasn't too bad (Dennis the Menace) - some blowing about and 37mm of rain fell here but otherwise, OK. Makes a change for us to be on the better side.
Today is dry and bit blowy, currently 5ºC

So far, so good on this part of the South coast.  Not as windy as last week nor as much rain.  The trellis i did not like has collapsed.  Much to my amazement the tatty greenhouse we inherited last year has escaped unscathed
Garage roof has couple of extra leaks but as it's for the chop later in the year it's not the end of the world - the lawn mower has been moved to the conservatory to keep it dry.

A warm night @ 12C and still very wet and windy, the chimney closing plate in the Victorian fireplace keeps lifting and then banging down again, so noisy as well  ::) Front, footpath is a stream this morning, so no Sunday paper for me..
Another fence post has gone over, but the greenhouse is still standing thus far. Forecast is for the rain, strong winds and gusts to continue all day, finally easing off during the night.

Dennis has moved on from us.  It was a bit stormy and wet last night, but like everyone else, we had much less of a battering than last week.

It is just grey, wet and a bit breezy now.  Not a day to rush to go out, but otherwise OK  :)

There was a lot less wind and rain than storm Ciara brought us so all is well here.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Windy (gusting 55), feels like 1C. But since it's a dry clear day it's out with the laundry.

I live a few miles from Mrs Pea, so the weather here is the same.     It has just eased off enough for me to go a put a very strong rubber tie around the tree.   I needed two hands to fix it, so held the tree in place with my head.   I think my head has gone out of shape - I know it hurts     Mrs B

Not as bad as last week here either, plenty of wind and rain and maybe a bit stronger/heavier than usual.  No papers until midday though as ferries out of action and Fridays delivery lorries, along with Saturdays and todays are apparently being held on the outskirts of Southampton.  The main Co-op depot are recalling theirs according to our local store manager so no fresh produce once it has run out.  Will probably take a few days to get back to normal.

Calm and cold here today. We had ton of rain last night, the bottom end of our allotment site is submerged. The river Severn has burst it's banks and we haven't had all the water from Wales arrive yet!

You leave our Welsh water alone! :)
Seriously, I hope everyone's plot is OK but most important - keep safe.

Despite media headlines, York will remain open for business!

The rain in the Dales has been less than feared, so the river level in York in a day or two won't be as high as it could have been.  Yes, the main river Ouse has burst its banks - but it does this a few times each year, and all the emergency plans have been activated.

Squally weather and some thunder briefly earlier this evening.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Heavy rain & large gusty winds overnight, the wind had dropped somewhat this morning but the rain stayed until this afternoon when the sun made an appearance, but it will take more than that to dry out the allotments. In 14 years I’ve never seen it like this before. Sometimes there’s standing water on the bottom 2 plots but today it was 4 plots up & very surprising it was in the holes that my plot neighbour has cultivated over the years, he’s not known as the Mole for nothing lol.
