Somewhere cool, dry & dark I find.

Are these true marrows, or overgrown courgettes?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I've read that you either have to eat them, or loose them. I've had many, many marrow based dishes at my parents house while mother tries to get rid of her stock.

Having said that, I've also seen that you can clean them up with antibacterial cleanser (as this is what starte the decaying process) and suspend them from the ceiling somewhere cool and dry. As long as they are not touching anything else they can last for a while - although I've not tried this so can't vouch for the success.

Otherwise cube them up and freeze - might be good for a stew in the winter.
I might be talking rubbish!

A true marrow will happily store for months. These have thicker skins than the overgrown courgettes. Hence the question.

agree with all above -- cool dry place. I have shelves in the garage just for marrows. Overgrown courgetets go to the ducks. WARNING :: Do not however store marrow on top of a tall cupboard in a warm kitchen, forget about it for weeks and then drop it whilst stood on a stool. As my duaghter in law did last year with one gifted by me that she, bless her, kept to stuff at some later date.
Marrow under those circumstances, warm, forgotten about, dropped from a height can emulsion an entire kitchen in a colour and a smell you would not imagine.
Take care

Reminds me of when I was a student and one of the lads (well it would be!) left a yogurt on top of his wardrobe in centrally heated halls.  It exploded ....  the smell, the clean up,        the fine ....

When was still at school (some time before they invented the wheel) got into headmistress's office and pinned a kipper under her chair. The resulting mayhem as various people came in to try ad find the source of the smell was lovely!  Teach HER to give me (IMO) uncalled for detention! This was not the time I exploded a pressure cooker in domestic science class ( be very careful - it doesn't take much for a bit of carrot to jam up the valve). THAT also spreads a L   O   N   G     W   A   Y!
