Can someone please tell me the time scale of the Raspberry plants. Thanks

Main problem is they can get virus.
The book that came with the Ken Muir bits I bought says 10-12 years if they don't get attacked early.
Also seem to recall 10 years being written in other book I have read.
Therefore the general rule of not planting new bushes where old ones have already been as there could be a build up of virus in the ground.
Go for 10 years as a good guide.

Thanks SP6, thats very intresting as I was given some raspberry plants used ones? I dont know how old the are? So they can give the soil a virus also. I dont know now wether to use these ones or get new ones from lidle this week. What do you think.

Sorry meant also to say,that place that I was thinking of planting used to have a hedge on it till a couple of years ago.
