Ornaments on allotments: How many is too many?
« on: June 15, 2022, 19:08 »
Hi everyone. Curious, do your allotment sites have rules about how much of your plot is taken up with things that aren't directly related to growing stuff? Or how many flowers you can grow? And is it policed?

It all boils down to your allotment rules, and they can be very different from site to site.
Some are like having your own personal garden, often called  Leisure gardens & allotments. These types can be just flowers if that's what you want to grow.
Others were set up, mainly,  so people could grow their own vegetables and a limit is set on the area allowed  for flowers.
Here in Ashford we are only allowed 25% flowers and lawns are not allowed for a seating area, or anything like that.

Yep, the Rules should cover it.  But some people may live in a Flat and not have a garden, so they may consider their plot as somewhere to enjoy, as we would our garden.  If they have a bbq, invite yourself over  :D   Mrs Bouquet

As long as the tenancy rules are abided by I feel it’s their plot to do as they will & get on doing my plot  :)
