Missing beans in broadbean pods
« on: July 08, 2012, 13:57 »
I have quite a healthy crop of broad beans this year at last. Nice big pods (if not that many considering the flowers they had). The pods are huge but the beans inside were not that big and some were missing the odd bean. No sign of holes or pest of any kind.

Is this normal ?

Is this a sign of poor pollination?

Oh right. I didn't realize. Oh well, not bad for a poor season. Nice flavor :) though

We have had this too hubballi.  I guess the pollinators weren't around at the right time for our crop either.

It is a miracle that anything is being pollinated in this weather.  G-d help the 'Stick Beans'  if it doesn't pick up
