I may be wrong, but i thing seconds should have been in a while ago - it might be a little late (although i would be happy to be wrong then i can plant some!)

yes, it is a bit late for planting another crop now, unless you can artificially extend the season. I have saved some potatoes from my earlies and intend to plant them in bags in August so that I can move them into the greenhouse in the autumn. Then I will have new potatoes for Christmas! (well, that's the plan, anyway  ::))
There's more comfrey here than you can shake a stick at!

Lewjam don't tip your potato planters. Second crop potatoes need around 60 days from the day they were lifted before they can be re-planted. Google search is my advice.

I had some of my Maris Piper maincrop chits leftover from JBA and I planted a couple of dozen in 2 old plastic dustbins filled with compost and soil. I planted them about 2 weeks ago and they are already 6-8inches high. They have sprouted super-quick compared to my main-crop that I planted months ago  :D :D
If the weather turns too bad I'll just cover them in some sort of cloche to keep the heat in.... touch wood... i'll have some tattie super late... :D :D :D
