I was wondering if there are any plants that the chickens would leave alone if I put them in the run, I was thinking of something like dogwood or bamboo to give shade.

Adding shelves would give cover or shade, Or partly or fully sheltering your run also..

Plant's in the run??? Advise against it and some can be poisionous.
I hang cabbages / brocolli / greenhouse leaves / sprout stalks ... just as good i suppose
but healthy for the chook and gives them what they need!
