As for me, on Christmas Eve I cooked dinner for Mrs. Subversive and our two sons, Indian dishes. We had Badaami Murgh (chicken smothered in aromatic herbs and almonds), Badshahi Pullao (emperor's pilaf with mushrooms), and Kheere ka Raita (Cucumber and yoghurt salad). We ate like a football team, with enough still to have leftovers!
I'll make brunch for everyone in the morning (buttermilk biscuits, turkey sausage gravy, fruit salad). Back to a low-fuss dinner in the evening.
