A fellow allotmenteer has been collecting bottles for over a year to build one, it will be interesting to see the finished product! :)

I've made two panels so far, currently using them to cover my grapes and keep them warm and bird free

I must admit to being a little intrigued by this. Good use of old bottles but asking myself the same question as BobE on how long they would last however they are cheap to replace

Might have a go at a small cold frame sized one.

My plot neighbour has built one this winter - not been in yet but looks impressive!

Cadalot - I see yours has canes through the centre - that's a different system to the one he has used, which has them all tied in with wire.

I had seen both methods and the wires seem a good idea of you are using large bottle size timbers to build the frame of your greenhouse, but mine are made of large roofing battens and I intended to start with a couple of frames to use as fox resistant cloches with netting on the gable ends, and then I got the grapes and thought they would be of better use there.

Now collecting bottles for the next frame and the frames are 1.2m x 1.2m and my beds are 1.2 x 2.4 I can knock these up and find uses for them even if its ultimately to make a bed size greenhouse using 8 frames

The other thing I though of was perhaps using them as shorter wind breaks.

I've got a lean-to bottle greenhouse been up 4 years now, everything as sound as when it went up.  Bottles looking very slightly greenish where they slot together.  I didn't think of Candalots solding iron technique for finishing off though!  Mines much more rough and ready, used canes stuck into the ground  ::)  I stick up a row every time I have enough bottles and just keep extending! I'll try and do a photo.  <goes away to ask teenagers...>

Bit dark, but you get the idea.  The ribbed bottles are tesco squash bottles, but I'm not fussy  :nowink:
Not a proper job like, but Mrs bodge-it me  :D
