I'd be extremely concerned that there might be all sorts of fungi in there and wouldn't consider eating them!

If you can not 100% ID it, then dont eat it. I have magpie mushrooms growing in my beans and they are possibly poisonous, and I dont want to find the answer out

There are few poisonous fungi that look like edible mushrooms and they are quite easy to tell apart and anyway are unlikely to develop from commercial compost. If it looks and smells like a mushroom it probably is a mushroom. But, if you feel paranoia creeping in, it don't eat them.

I agree that the probability is that the fungi growing from spent mushroom compost are likely to be the same edible mushrooms which were originally grown in it, but certainly do not agree that there is anything paranoid about not wanting to take the risk of poisoning yourself or your family if you are not 100% sure.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

have a look in your yellow pages to see if you have a mushroom grower locally, it's much cheaper bought direct from them :)
