Post by: new_2_veg on October 24, 2007, 16:30
hi all

i was given a potted sweet potato ages ago.

planyed in a nice container and made sure if yould drain well.
its in the polly tunnel but i have a problem!

the top hasnt realy grown since i planted it and has not trailed like i was told it would.

should i just empty the pot and give it up as a bad job?

thanks

Green house job, methinks, if it's still alive, but does not cost to try.

It might well be, if you had this cold wet summer like we did. Look for healthy, firm tubers, even if small, they might shoot.

sweet potatos are grown from slips from a shooting tuber  not a planted tuber

I thought it was foreigners who no understand

But yes, it is a brilliant article, everything is in there. 8)

All I could add that I prefer the orange flesh and they shoot in damp sand or similar as well, I'm actually going to try both ways this year for comparison.

And a wide range is available nowadays, ex. Th&M.

And a Big Badge of Patience to Munty this week on several accounts.  :)  :)
