I have today cooked with a couple of shallots (they were too big too pickle so I though I would cook with them instead).  Well, my god were they strong.  I can usually stand shop bought onions but these, well I have never cried anything like it!!!  

As this is my first year of growing am just getting use to the lovely taste of all our own home grown veggies and these shallots are no exception.

Last year my shallots were lovely and loads of them, so I gave my brother a big carrier bag full, as I know he loves pickled onions.  Couldn't afford to pickle them for him, but hey, what's he want for nothing??

Anyway, earlier this year we were talking about the garden, and he said he buys these lovely pickled onions when he can get to ASDA for just over £1 a jar.  I said what about the shallots I gave you last year?  He said what shallots?  I said that big carrier bag full ready for pickling?  Oh them he said, we cooked them!

Never again!!!!!!!  Well, did give him 5 cabbages, 6 cucumbers some tomatoes, courgettes and runner beans last week!!!
