i am planning to grow carrots in raised beds this year this soil within these beds is really poor quailty i know i should not add manure at this stage is there anything else i could use ie multi purpose compost or fish bone & blood or anything else benificial to growing carrots

My raised bed carrots are in rubbish topsoil (sifted of lumps and stones), compost, sharp sand and a handful of multi purpose.  They are growing like good 'uns.

These overwintered carrots (foreground) are growing in 50/50 cheap compost and sharp sand, nothing else.
