This is my protector, Cromwell.

Sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut and be suspected of knowing nothing than opening it and proving it.

The only thing that could possibly make the pic cuter is if he were wearing a monocle lol.

He doesn't slobber as much as Hooch in the film with Tom Hanks but he does need his face dried after a drink.

My sons Airedale has to have her face dried after a drink too, otherwise you get wet legs & toes yuk

English Mastiffs have been dubbed the Velcro dog because they love being joined at the hip to their owner - or the neck, feet, anywhere in fact.  A downside is you always wear saliva and eau de mastiff.

Our Saint Bernard produces two different eau de saliva; the regular watery kind that falls like raindrops and covers the floor when he's waiting for food, and then the extra special gooey kind that he produces when he's excited. Very slimy and sticky. Kinda gross but it's hilarious to see him running about with a foot long gooey with leaves stuck to it! Gross but really hilarious.

Cromwell is gorgeous.
I am a great lover of mastiffs of all breeds, my favourite is the Neapolitan (but bred correctly with less excess skin which the Americans seem to breed) and sadly I lost my Ols about 16 months ago. I currently have 2 Newfoundland Landseers and a little Staffy cross. The newfies drool as much as my Neapolitan used to do and most of it can only be described as being similar to wallpaper paste where it hangs down from their jowls down to the floor - you have to be ready to take cover when they shake their heads.
Staffies are softer than you think.

He is lovely.

My spaniel can match your drooling dogs when he drinks - more water on the floor, up the cupboard etc than he actually drinks.  His bowl is surrounded by a towel and I have dribble towel to wipe his face like a toddler at times, I also have to keep slippers on or get wet feet.

Oh the joys of dogs
