shaded, cooler corner

Right, I've almost completed digging my garden grassed area, so I'm contemplating the design of what veg can go where. A corner about 3ft x 3ft is mainly shaded no matter what time of day. It's at the bottom of my sloping garden so is the most damp too. Would caulis, swede or other such thirsty veg be ok? Or any other suggestions. There'll be a bin full of compost being dug into the entire plot even though only grass and weeds have thrived there for probably 10 yrs or more. We're looking at about 9ft x 8ft all told including a foot width path down one near outer edge  so I can access my washing line above the plot - talk about space where there isn't any!!! There'll be a border near the outer edge of the path inwhich I'll probably plant lettuce & stuff.

Been advised that leeks may do ok and I think maybe onions cos they like it damp, and may not mind a bit of shade

Lettuce and other leafy things will be OK
Self-sufficient in rasberries and bindweed. Slug pellets can be handy.

Maybe a fruit bush?
3x3 isnt great, I think they're supposed to have 5x5, and they dont crop as well in shady conditions, but I'm relativly certain they still will crop a bit.

Just a thought

Seems like a good start, gartlic should be ok
We use chemicals in this garden, just as god intended

thank for input peeps, I'd forgotten my shed which causes the shade, the door opens onto that 3x3 a little.
Ok lettuces you say, was going to put them onto the outer edge, but maybe ....... I've got various types germinating, iceberg, lollo rosso and australian along with various chinese cabbages, pak choi etc. Do you think they'll be ok in heavy soil shade? I've mixed in a generous amount of compost from my bin to help improve texture and drainage.
My swedes I've put in now, lots of leafy foliage but no swede, they were growing in a trough.

Whatever else, but not them. 8)  Gooseberry? Spinach, parsley, sorrel, radish, lettuce, rocket, cress.

Welsh onions and wild garlic would cope though.

Thanks gobs, got spinach, base of parsley where the leafy bit died off but think root and woody bit still alive, lettuce and rocket seedlings. They should fill that spot, thankyou!  :D
