Hello again, I've been absent from here for a long time, apart from a brief visit in 2018! Well, one heart attack later, plus a bad back, and I'm ready to carefully launch myself back into the garden, despite the unappealing weather! Main issue is getting some ground cleared of overgrown weeds and grass with a bad back, Oh Dear.

Good luck! Someone has suggested I try Charles Dowding�s no-dig methods for clearing ground, and while it would seem to be largely hurling compost about instead of digging, I suppose it will at least mean less bending, so I�m going to give it a go.

Sorry to hear about your ill-health. If the weeds are annuals I'd cover the beds with as much compost (including mushroom) to exclude any light so they won't grow. If they're perennial they'll needs digging up beforehand. Perhaps you could get some friends round to give you a hand in return for a nice evening meal.
