pippa's polands poorly, update
« on: October 29, 2008, 11:16 »
Pip's polands are about 5 weeks old now, we've noticed blood in the pooh of 3 of them (quite a lot) i've heard about coccidiosis but we feed them Farmgate chick crumbs which is medicated, is there anything we can do to prevent them from dying? pip will be devastated if she loses one never mind them all, any advice would be much appreciated.

Oh no TMG's I'm real sorry :(

I was under the impression if they were on medicated Chick crumbs that you shouldn't use other treatments as one cancels out the other :?

Might it be worth a trip to that nice vet of yours??

Sorry not much help am I :(

Keeping everything crossed for you all

Oh TMG Im sorry, the only thing I could think of was take off farmgate and use a non medicated feed, then you can give Coxoid as both together I think cancels out the effectiveness and tbh doesn't sound like the farmgate has worked -was it in date?
I would also add ACV as well to their water that can help digestive probs
fingers crossed TMG! :(

blooming poo in chicks could be coccidiosis or enteritis.

see your vet , and treat all your chooks, as it can spread and be fatal in wee ones.

they seemed quite happy, unfortunatley pootle passed away in the last 5 mins, pip was cuddling him when she said to me "mum, i think he's gone" she was right, any survivors in the morning are going to the vet, ( he thinks he might be able to help) she's still holding him now..................... we know that now pootles gone we will lose the rest,

a little boy was killed last night crossing the road at Teeside park, we go there for the cinema, i told Pip there's always someone worse off than you...................................i think she understands.
