I have a automatic pop hole opener.  Yes Foxy I am paranoid it is in my nature.  I always check that the coop door has opened in the morning, closed at night and count the girls in.   Well last night I was one chuck down!!  For what ever reason she did no get into the coop last night before it was closing time.  The temperature dropped to -3 last night here!!!! Then this morning the coop door was still closed!!! It had frozen shut and the fishing line had snapped!!!!

My advice is please please please do not trust them totally, if you can check!
Stuart

Dont worry I am just paranoid duckie.

If I get the wrong end of the stick its because I have speed read. Honest.

Blar blar blar blar snorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre.

I hope you're talking about the pop hole, and not the chook!

Seriously though, I hope she was OK after a chilly night out.

Very good point about the pop hole Rough not one I'd have thought off
Have to agree with Catii though I like to do mine myself - and then I usually go back & check 5/6 times just to be sure I've done it

Glad you asked about the hen Catii I was worried about her too

Hope it wasn't my Ruby :?

Sounds a bit scary. Wonder if that's a common problem.

Another thing to watch for at the moment is frozen drinking water. Ours was OK this morning (I clean and refill at night) so may need to fill up in the morning.

Gave them some warm mash (pellets in warm water). Nearly took my hands off

It was not Ruby it was one of the 2nd batch of ex batts.  Oh peapod if you stumble across this thread it was not Birdo either.  Peapods son named her when they came for some muck the other week. Yes I had to crack the ice on the water as well.  I think I will have to go for a metal door. May be that will help?

I dont totaly trust myself I am worring at the moment "Did I turn the fence back on?"
Why because the coop door will be open after dark and ...... I am not thinking about it.

Arrrrrrg

Ffing chickens they worry me to death.  Oh well I better go and dig me grave. Where did i leave the spade? ...................
