trachelospermum supports
« on: August 10, 2016, 10:00 »
Hi all,
I’ve planted a trachelospermum jasminoides against my sheltered south/west house wall, but have yet to put up a support as the plant is still small. I’m thinking of vine eyes and wire and just adding new ones as required. Planning to do them in diagonals as that fits the initial direction I want to train it in, so just one or two for now. In order to achieve full wall coverage how close together do I need to make the support wires? What gauge wire do I need and do I need these fancy turnbuckle things or can I just twist the wire tight with pliers?

As it’s on the wall of a brand new extension I’m trying to avoid drilling too many holes in the brickwork and trying to get it right first time!

Any advice much appreciated!
