Title: Looking to getting pigs

Hi all, been a little while since I've posted!

Any way were looking at trying to rent some land from the council behind our house next year or so. But before I start I've got a couple of questions.

1. Fencing :
Standard Stock fencing with Electric wire OK which will be ran from my chicken run as its 2 /3 meters?

2. Gates :
What is the cheapest / best way to install a gate? Just thinking of there strength

3. Transport :
I'm guessing trailer which I have a small one but wont be good once there ready for the Freezer. Any recommendations?

Thats all I can think of at the moment but cannot wait to get started!!

we collected our first 2 weaners, (Berkshires), in a dog crate in the back of car, as for trailer, we borrowed one for first trip to abattoir, but now saving to buy good secondhand one off ebay.

The gate to our pig run is just an ordinary homemade wooden one with stock wire on it, but I do run a couple of strands of electric polywire across it, which can be disconnected for going in and out.

We have 90cm stock fencing with 3 strands of electric polywire around the inside, fixed to the wooden posts with insulators, just so they can learn that if they touch wire they get shocked. Great way of training them for when we move them into new enclosure, surrounded only by electric wire. They never made any attempt to try and escape.

Best thing we ever did was getting our pigs, they can be such characters, meat was amazing. Got 3 this time, same breed, Berkshires, so easy to handle, and don't grow too big, great starter pig.
