one of my hens which had laid one egg for about 2 weeks has stopped. Is this normal, what can i do to encourage it to lay, i leave other eggs in the nest. Also they don't seem to like the layers pellets and prefer pecking round garden, mixed corn and kitchen scraps.

How old are they? Are they moulting ?

If they are young and not moulting then I would knock all the treats (scraps) out for now and just leave layers down for them Like children they always prefer the stuff thats not as good for them

Give them a small handful of mixed corn an hour before bed and see how that goes after a week or two

It may also be wise to give them and their house a once over for creepy crawlies
