Lot of these growing near to where we were over the weekend.
Anyone know what they're called? (Come out of hiding Munty!).
Don't worry - don't think I could eat them even if they were proven edible!
They're about 3" across & growing in the grass.

Not sure.. are they Chanterelles?

We're stuck with that link until admin get here, as I can't get at the mod buttons now!
It's not them, these were not as errr - erect and are quite ragged at the edges.
To post a long link, hit "reply" & click on the globe icon, second row of square boxes where it say "Add BBC tags".
You'll get this, but with square brackets:
(url)(/url)
After the first "url" type "=" then paste you long link. In between the centre brackets type what you want to call & link. Then post it!

Everything is consistent, abeit some were a bit larger than average, even down to the habit & the Polytrichum they are growing amongst.

Just goes to show, though, that you can't take chances in identifying fungii...

Sorry can't help - this is what I was saying - you've sent the "modify" button off screen! :lol:
It needs Aunt Sally's or John's touch to deal with this. I've sent something to let them know, but it just depends when they're around.

Don't think think it is DD....looks like a waxcap....there are lots of different ones. To identify a particular mushroom is quite difficult. There are so many things to take into consideration ie....habitat, wether or not it has a frill, pores or gills, etc. When identifying it is wise to either photograph it from all angles (including underneath) or if removing it from source, dig it up, not leaving any of the stalk behind, because some of the traits could be at the very base of the fungus.
(sound like a bl@@dy expert!!!!....but I ain't!!!!!! :D :D )

We've got the Mushrooms book by Roger Phillips...which is fabulous, it's got over 1,250 detailed photos and loads of information....but saying that, there are still loads that look very similar. A very tricky but fascinating subject, wish I was an expert!!!!! :nowink:

Cap seems slightly different shape. What is it like underneath? Wax caps have a kind of 'waxy' (yes, really!) appearance to the gills, which are like a net, not like mushrooms' gil
