Greenthumb Lawn Care
« on: February 11, 2011, 21:42 »
We used to use Greenthumb Lawn Care, but haven't had them round in a while due to a broken down car on our drive (long story) anyway was thinking about getting them back soon as hopefully the car will be going, but was wondering if you can feed and treat grass whenyou have chickens who get out and about on it most days??

Thanks
11 Chickens (Rhode Rock, Bluebell, Copper Black, Columbine, Coucou, Mystery Hen, Clarance Court, Araucana, brown hen ) , 3 Cats (1 mog, 1 bengal, 1 Bengal x),  2 Little Boys, 1 dog (Golden Retriever) and 1 Husband

I wouldn't let chickens on a lawn that had been treated with anything for at least 7 days - you could try ringing them to find out what chemicals are being used and ask but also besides what they say google the chemicals and then ring other manufacturers/suppliers of these chemicals to find out. Remember they will be using things on the ground to kill weeds and beasties (beasties that your chickens would eat).
Staffies are softer than you think.

Hang on - if you have chickens, do they not provide all insect-killing and fertilising tasks necessary?  Perhaps the humans could deal with just the mowing?

think they use a broadleaf weed killer and a moss killer, wouldnt let my birds anywhere near it until the weeds are dead and removed.
