I was dropping someone at the back of the local Green Grocers today and the grocer was dumping a load of Cauliflower off cuts out to the bin. I asked him if I could have some for the compost heap and he said take as much as you like       It's suprising how much you can pack into the back of an estate!

That's a great idea gobs, at least when it's fresh it doesn't pong quite so much, you can then transport it to the plot and into the compost bin more easily!  Also, better than tediously separating your kitchen rubbish to get a few spadefuls of stuff, the greengrocers have it in bulk of course!

The next passenger was an allotmenteer so he understood!     This particular GG preps a load of veg for the caterers around here so he has loads of peelings and leaves to throw out. I can see a couple of bottles of home brew going his way

Nice one seadart but also remember that the GG currently pays to get them taken away.

Bear in mind too that - technically - you could be classed as providing a Waste Collection service and would need a licence to do so.  CRAZY - I know.  Just keep it quiet and small scale & you should be fine.

I'm sure if I speak to him tomorrow we can come to an "arrangement" it's not as if I'm taking stuff every day for the heap just once in a while. It's been a good weekend for the heap coz on top of the calui cuttings I managed to get 6 bags of fresh horse manure
