I need POL hens in or Near Manchester
« on: March 08, 2009, 17:40 »
As the subject says, i don't know if this will be an easy task or not but after reading everything i can and getting my coop/ run ready. I need Chickens.
I don't want to cause too much stress on the poor things so would like to get them from as near as possible. they will be travelling in cardboard boxes, with air holes of course.
Can anyone recommend somebody. or is it just a case of finding an advert on the web?

Hello Sparrowman -another good place to look is in the breeders section at the back of Practical Poultry a monthly magazine for chook keepers available from WH Smiths. I am guessing you have looked in the poultry suppliers section here?

i have looked at the suppliers on here, but nearest is blackpool. 1 hour away, i would like it nearer. I did see a sign on a farm in rochdale, but as i have nobody to ask for advice i have ignored it.

If you are south manchester, you could try Chelford market.  There is a thread on here somewhere about it.  Got it ...http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=36662.0

Be closer than Rochdale.
