Plastic greenhouse protection
« on: April 11, 2008, 09:13 »
Thought i would pass this on.
We have been stuggling to keep the little plants warm at night in the greenhouse and they were starting to look chilled.
My parents gave us thier unused plastic little greenhouse which we have put inside the greenhouse.
It gives us more shelf space and we have all the weekling plants in there.in the morning it gets unzipped then at night closed and all tucked up.
It is working brilliant as theres no drafts.I saw them at the garden center for £19 99 so pretty cheap for the job and extra shelves,
I expect you all do this anyway and im not as clever as i think i am working it out!!!!!!!!!!!!learning fast here and really enjoying it.
Thank you for all the info i read on here. :D

I've been doing this for a while and it works very well. Certainly saves on heating a whole greenhouse. Also if getting very chilly earlier in the year, put a fleece cover over the mini greenhouse as well.

Word of warning though, beware the sun. Even though you are opening up the plastic, young plants will get scorched by the effect of the sun through glass and through the plastic. Some shade might be a good idea. Bit like what you do later on in the season.
