The Dangers of Sitting on Someone Else's Egg
« on: April 19, 2011, 13:03 »
My hens have a habit of sneaking in to the egg box and sitting on someone else's egg and then claiming to all of the world that they themselves laid it.  Poor Henrietta made the mistake of doing this to a thinly shelled egg and it broke all over her undercarriage and legs.  The other hens were on her in a flash.  By the time we finally grabbed her, they had pecked all of the feathers off her belly and they were after her yolk covered legs.  So we gave her a warm bath and all was back to normal.  Whew!  Never a dull moment! :nowink:
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

Popcorn, who is broody yet again, has that unfortunate habit. Brought home and bathed and then allowed to dry before returning to the fold.
