Does anyone know of or use either a pH meter or pH kit to check their soil acidity? If so do you have any recommendations.

I've heard that some of the cheap pH meters are not worth the money you pay for them. Is that true and if so can you recommend a pH meter that is worth paying for?

The cheap probe-type meters don't seem to have impressed those who have posted on these forums about them - this is just one thread:

Testing soil pH is not something you need to do very often so I would doubt that the price you would need to pay for an accurate meter could really be justified - chemical test kits are relatively cheap, and the principle is simple enough to be accurate (albeit more faff!)

A cheap kit will generally be more accurate than a cheap meter (applies to most chemical tests).
