Hello all! Lifted some maris piper today, spuds covered in little white spots, only matching image I can find relates to Enlarged Lenticels ? any ideas. Ta Ian

Enlarged lenticils is probably correct. Perfectly normal on immature potatoes.

You can eat them...............but as a maincrop potato they're not usually dug until the foliage dies back. By then they probably wouldn't have the white spots ;)

Swollen lenticles occur in very damp soil. Given the weather of late, it would be unusual to get them.

Have you been over-watering?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Ta Mum! we're almost out of earlies so want to start on the mash and jackets now, this is great for our first year, just off to pick some peas and beans for tea as our lotty is at the bottom of our garden. Thanks again Ian :D

Hi Digger! haven't watered for a wee while(some of the spuds get caught when we water  the peas and beans) But the end where the spuds came from is a bit claggy and soft and does tend to hold the moisture. cheers Ian ;)

Mine can be the same and I had them a few years ago when we used to get rain. That's no doubt it then!
