the shcefer bug sorry dont know the spelling

hi all could anyone tell me about the shcefer bug , just been t uk for a wisit and my grass was not perfect but ok , had a friend watering it came back and in places its gone awfull and is dieing as a coincidence visited kevs sister and she has had said bug in her lawn there is a big bare patch in the middle where they ate the roots of the grass so im wondering if i have something similar to me it looks a bit frazzled but im told its been well watered .

chafer bug ....  This site has a good description if not a great picture!

Is this your lawn in greece or uk?

Japanese beetle grubs can really do serious damage to lawns as well. Have you seen the actual chafer bugs or do you have white grub worms in the soil?

not seen any grubs in the soil but there are loads of black shiny beatles they are shaped like an apple pip and are black and shiny move quickly

jst had a look at the pics thanks but ive not seen anything like those but i do have oads of pip shaped very black shiny ones about 1/2 inch long they dont seem to be causing harm and are on the top of the ground , ive found some one who can put turf down but think it woulld be wise to fin out the problem first .
