Hello
I have a lovely polish chick - well he/she is about 12 weeks old now. I was convinced it was a he due to the fact he is quite bold. But I'm not quite sure. I know they are notoriously difficult to sex and they mature late but has anyone noticed anything that may help me. Like should there be signs of wattles etc?
Thanks
Ness
PS note to self - must becareful what I search for in google ie polish chicks

   :lol:sorry thats funny

Know about the googling - I made the same mistake  Take a picture of he/shes head for us and that will help. Does "he" have a spikey updo or does "she" have a fluffy bonnet. Might be able to tell, but have only worked my two out at 14 weeks and only had that "confirmed" this week at over 4 months when Blackie crowed and then ermmmm *mounted* Pudd!

Ha Ha ;) I was going to say, perhaps you should learn to speak Polish!

OK this does sound like something equally dodgy ??? but does she have a beard at all? I have found bearded ones harder to sex than non-bearded as these have much more prominant wattles and they start getting 'red bits' much earlier than the beardies.
If he/she is bearded pull the beard back and see if there are any wee red wattles... mine are the same age as yours and the boys do have red bits (as it were)
I have a couple of gold laced frizzle polands (beautiful) - its been obvious for a long time that Sweetie is a girl but I was convinced the other one was a boy but I had a good look yesterday and there are no red wattles at all... their brothers the chamois frizzles have got little red wattles... blimmin Polands!
It'd be good to see a close up pic of your chick. ::)

I was trying to work out (I can never remember which is which) if I have house martins or swallows. I typed into google's image search "swallow"
OMG

So the boys are spikier and the girls are fluffy heads? Awwww

Some boys take their time about getting the spikey updo's though ::) The bonnets on the girls are very pretty though :D

Thanks for all your lovely replies - thats just what I wanted to hear! :) Now we can name her and keep her. Which is great news because she is soooo tame.
Thank you!
