Bathroom sink pond feature - help!
« on: December 11, 2013, 12:28 »
Afternoon folks

I’ve got a solid pond liner which I am going to be adding to the allotment over the next month or two, to help with the wildlife (to get rid of slugs etc) and for the kids and us to enjoy

Now what I’m wanting to do is create a water feature, which will be an old bathroom sink with a couple of taps, and what I need to do is make it so that one of the taps is left on and water will flow out of it, overfill the sink, and go into the pond

Now this is where I’m stuck, have no idea what I need to create this, lol, I know it’s going to need to be solar powered, but is there a kit I can buy, or do I need to buy separates etc?

It will just be a standard bathroom sink with standard taps

Thanks for your help

You'll need some sort of recirculating pump to take the water from the pond back to the tap, will most likely need a filter as well otherwise it will bung up with algae & pond life dodo ::)

You can buy small kits that are solar powered and run a little water jet, but you might need something with a bit more oomph to it to push water up from surface level and out of the tap

I like your idea though, so hope you manage it.

Yeah thats the sort of thing I was looking at, then just some hose pipe or plastic tubing from the pump to the tap and hopefully hey presto i suppose

Just need to work out best way of mounting the sink itself, maybe cement it in once im happy with it and then sort out some form of tap

This is a smilar idea to what I want, just with a pond instead of the bucket, and solar powered

not to be a party pooper, but check with allotment rules regarding pond as some don't allow. Think safety for animals/children.

We dont have any rules  ;) lol

Got 3 young kids and it's only a small pond but safety will be top of the list :)
