Still no pipping
« on: April 24, 2011, 20:49 »
I'm having an expectant broody moment here
My bantam started sitting on bantam eggs on Saturday 2nd April in the evening so this is the end of day 21.  There is still no pipping and I can't see any movement or hear any sound from the eggs.  Mother banty has kept sitting on 10 eggs and not rolled any away so still hoping that some are viable but I'm getting anxious now.  I have started repeating a mantra to myself
I must not check them too often
I must not check them too often
I must not ....
well it's been nearly an hour since I last checked so maybe.....
I must not check them too often  ::)
11 bantams (and counting!) 2 dogs 1 cat

Exciting  :D  I'd be the same but mummy bantam will look after them and it's probably best not to disturb her too much  ;)  :)

Hi Bantam Novice, our last chicks were due on the 19th, but actually hatched on the 20th-22nd, however we did have a problem with 2 bantams sharing the sitting duties, the last 2 eggs we had to assist out of the shell and warm in the wifes bra (both fit and healthy now) !! good luck

Thanks all  :)
Joyfull I'm afraid I did go and check first thing this morning and at lunctime
There still seems to be only one chick so far but he/she seems to be doing fine.  I'll leave it another day or two before I remove the other eggs.  Mother will probably leave them of her own accord if they're not viable.  I'm glad that she has at least one to care for after all her sitting.
