Newbie in the Highlands
« on: April 21, 2022, 19:22 »
Hi everyone  :)

Not quite an allotment, but the owner of the croft where I keep my bees has offered me a bit of space to grow some veg. I mentioned to him that I'm a long way down on my local allotment list, and he was really kind (and enthusiastic!) in offering me as much space as I think I'd need.

I've grown veg before in a large garden I had at a previous house, so not a total newbie to it, but it's a real blank canvas I have to work with and I might need a few pointers from the pros!

Good to be here  :)

Welcome to the forums  :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Hello & welcome.  :D

You'll get loads of advice & inspiration here.
I also recommend this  https://www.crofting.org/enterprise/books-and-cards/horticulture-handbook/
which will tell you all you need to know & has timings relevant to your latitude (in case you get fed up of "Gardeners' World" episodes that tell you its time to unwrap your pineapples when you're still under a foot of snow!).
Windy.
