Increasing Seed Potatoes
« on: January 21, 2021, 14:42 »
Hello everyone

Have just been to the local GC and bought a packet of Pink Fir Apple seed pots (no loose ones available), some of these are very large (5"+)
I have read before that these can be cut in half to increase stock, my question is should this be done prior to chitting or should I wait until chits have formed.
From previous experience I know that PFA are very slow to form chits and in previous years I have ended up planting them before any have shown.

Thanks for any advice

I wait until the chits are sprouting, so I can see where to cut them,  and leave them indoors for a few days, so the cut edges can dry out, before planting.

Thanks Mum

I'll get them chitting straight away, hopefully I'll be able to see some chits before planting  :)
