Has anyone grown asparagus in containers? If yes, how many crowns to a pot and what is the best soil?

Asparagus can only be harvested when it has grown large, deep and spreading roots, which takes a few years. That just isn't going to happen in a container!   ;)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

Afraid I must agree. The goodness of any pot soil will quickly be consumed, the roots will heat up too much above ground, and watering could be too sporadic in a container, not to mention those big roots when they're finally ready to crop. Something like currants or gooseberries are excellent for a container though.
