Credit score/search.
« on: January 06, 2020, 17:09 »
A happy new year to everyone on the forum.

I have no idea what my credit score is and no inclination to find out.  Why are we being inundated with offers to check the credit scores and what do these companies get out of it?  I'm sure they aint doing it out of the goodness of their hearts! >:(

Cheers,  Tony.

They just want to know your finances & your business so they can either scam you or get someone else too by selling your details on.
Happy new year & stay safe particularly online

We never buy anything  unless we can pay for it, so we have no need of credit scores.

I've read that if you pay your credit card in full every month you get a lower score than those who don't. Personally I don't want any credit unless I've used the edges of an expired credit card to expunge whatever gunge or other unmentionable stuff that's been trapped between the sides of the cooker ever since you bought it.  ;)
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Credit scores are just an indication of whether there are any credit issues on your record.  When companies decide whether to give you credit (e.g. a loan, mortgage) they don't use these credit scores but have their own internal scoring systems.

But getting a copy of your credit record can be useful to find out if there's anything unexpected recorded, that you should deal with before making any applications for significant credit.
