Hello from Dartford
« on: February 13, 2021, 15:02 »
New to the forum.
Got my plot in October 2017. Large plot and very overgrown. Weeds, self seeded trees and loads of bramble. Also a fly tipping victim. I am sharing the allotment with a friend. We both enjoy a bit of banter while working.
Neither of us had much of a clue. So it's been a learning curve with the odd mistake along the way.  My experience was limited to being forced to help my Dad on his allotment. Normally as a punishment for fighting with my brother. I hated it. My family still can't relieve I've got an allotment. But I do really enjoy it. I took early retirement in 2018 so little and often is the motto. We do a couple of hours on weekdays and a bit at the weekends in the watering season !
Anyway we've run out of space. So my friend took a slightly smaller plot in the Autumn on the same site. Now we've got two between us.
I really enjoy bringing stuff on from seed. Looking forward to the new season. I've got some chilis and pepper seedings doing nicely in the kitchen. And have just sown some leeks indoors.
Anyway hopefully I can share my mistakes and learn a bit on here.

Robin

Hello there Robin, and welcome to the "crack"!

I am not a long way from retiring myself - will be out by July at the latest, but hopefully end of March. I had an allotment whilst I was working, and that was a big mistake; I had to give it up. Now I'm second on the list for another one, and that will be my retirement "working life". Best of luck matey, and let us all know how you get on.
I may be Welsh, but I love ewe anyway!
