Redstarts nesting
« on: May 24, 2010, 19:52 »
For the 2nd year running I have a pair of Redstarts raising their family on one of the beams of my terrace  :D

The chicks have hatched and the parents are very busy flying backwards and forwards with insects, which is accompanied by very loud cheepinig I can hear all over the house.

Unfortunately I can't take any photos because of the position of the nest (I don't have ladder tall enough), but I'm waiting imaptiently for the day that they fledge and start practising flying... fortunately my cats think only blackbirds and wood pigeons are worth chasing

They are lovely little birds, we saw some while in France recently. I love that call that sounds like chinking of marbles.
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it....
