 Ha ha Well, I've got the hot bed warming up nicely. Just a small raised bed about 3ft by 4 ft, with 2 barrow loads of horse poo layered and turned with grass cuttings. As advised I've covered it with black teram and I'll put a soaker pipe under to keep it nice and moist.
Next door plotter gave me a few melon seeds and I will put 2 seeds on top of each of 3 hillocks. (Discard the weakest)
I think I need to add potash so I have some potassium sulphate to sprinkle on tomorrow and then wait until the heap has really warmed up before planting the seeds.
OK ........... Do you think this sounds OK?
And how many melons can I hope for per plant? :D

About 3-4 Jim, according to my book anyway, it says not to allow more than one fruit per leader and you usually end up with 4 apparently. Unless growing like a cordon in a greenhouse.
